Residents at the Inglewood Arms rooming house located at 295 Jarvis Street are fighting eviction by the Minto Group, a Toronto developer who wants to put up 36 story apartment building in its place and not abide by the City of Toronto's relocation rights for rooming house tenants(OPA 453). At a rally and press conference held January 27, 2020, before a meeting at the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal hearing (LPAT), Joseph De Silva, a resident of the Inglewood Arms and Brendan Joweet, a lawyer from Neighbourhood Legal Services, present their case to the public. They are joined by Yogi Acharya from the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty (OCAP), and other residents of the Inglewood Arms.
